The Shallows :-Watch The Shallows on 123moviestvshow.com,An injured surfer stranded on a buoy needs to get back to shore, but the great white shark stalking her might have other ideas.Mauled by a shark while surfing at an isolated beach, a medical student has to tend to her wounds while working out a safe way back to shore in this horror thriller in the vein of ‘Open Water’. Made on a bigger budget, ‘The Shallows’ is more effects-driven than ‘Open Water’ with sadly more overt than implied terror, however, ‘The Shallows’ is also infinitely better acted and it is an incredibly good-looking film overall. The underwater shots are very effective and all the above-water shots capture the serene nature beauty of the location very well; it is almost an ironic setting for such a horrifying tale to unravel. The screenplay is, however, far from airtight. We gradually learn that she has come to the beach as it was one of her deceased mother’s favourite surfing spots, however, the film misses the mark to turn her survivalist tale into a parable for coping with grief. It also feels like more could have been made from her decision to drop out of medical school and how that factors into her survival quest. Most perplexing of all though is the sheer unlikelihood of everything that transpires; it more often feels like she persists out of lucky coincidences (though jellyfishes!) than ingenuity or a will to survive. Whatever the case, Blake Lively is solid throughout in a challenging role that requires her to command every scene. A well-trained seagull also provides one of the most memorable avian performances of recent time. The location-scouting team deserves some kudos too, and who would have guessed that the entire movie was filmed in Australia?
